The Pre-Hype Machine: The VonnegutsThe Pre-Hype Machine: The Vonneguts

A new weekly feature (I know, there's a lot right?) where we feature a band that comes up with zero results on The Hype Machine.

The Hype Machine: 10/19: No blog tracks found for vonneguts

First up is a fun little duo from Portland called The Vonneguts. They caught my eye as I have been a Kurt Vonnegut fan for years and I was interested to hear what kind of music a fellow Tralfamadorian would write. Like the Tralfamadorian's these Vonneguts seem to travel in time to enjoy the happy stuff. They make simple, short, clean-cut bedroom-pop that just catches your ear.

According to their Myspace Blog they have some 7 inches and full-length coming out sometime this fall (which is, like, now) so keep yer eyes open if you like what you hear!

The Vonneguts are fantastic, yes! Listen, I'm actually the guy putting out the 7" (the label is called Tiny Shrine, we're brand new), and... well, as you can see, Fall has already passed... so it goes. But don't sweat it! We have the 6 song (!) 7"s in hand now, the packaging is being printed as we speak, and you'll be able to get it crammed into your ears by the beginning of 2007 (they come with a burned CD of all 6 songs, too, in case you don't have a turntable at home... or in case you're just too lazy to clean off that fuzzed-out needle). Good things come to those who wait, and we're all very excited that now it looks like the wait is finally over! I'll be updating the site soon with further details once they become available, so check in on www.myspace.com/tinyshrine and www.tinshrine.com, too, in January. We'll be posting their show schedule there, too, so you can see 'em if they're playing your town (especially if you live in Portland, OR... that's where they're from). In the meantime, you can find the band themselves on myspace, too... www.myspace.com/thevonneguts. Thanks for the interest and for the kind words! -paul
