Top 5 Bands I Am Dying To See LiveTop 5 Bands I Am Dying To See Live

It was a bit challenging to make this list because most of the bands I'm in love with I've either already seen or they are dead/broken-up/don't tour. But here we go:

1) Built To Spill (or Doug Martsch) has an intensely faithful fanset. My friend Al (who turned me on to them) has seen them half a dozen times, and I would bet most fans have. They write some of the best indie-rock there is. They were supposed to play the Filter party at SXSW this past year, but didn't show up. Hell, if I enjoyed it even half as much as that goof up front in the video, it'd be worth it.

2) Mirah's got the second most voice that can melt my heart (Emily Haines has the first, but I've seen her). Her lyrics are touching and moving and shes got this sexy whispy kind of voice. Here's Pollen played in Houston, Tx:

The rest after the jump (and chime in on what your top 5 are)

3) Sufjan Stevens' Illinois was a landmark album of the 2000's and despite me thinking it is sort of lame to have to read sheet music of your own song while performing (hopefully he doesn't still do it), I'd still go out of my way to see that voice live. Here's him performing "Chicago" in San Francisco:

4) TV On The Radio put out one of the more interesting albums of the year, and I've just always wanted to see all that rock (and falsetto) in person. Watch them melt Letterman's face during a performance of "Wolf Like Me":

5) Regina Spektor reminds me a lot of Fiona Apple, but more accepted (maybe less crazy?). Or maybe it's because I have a thing for cute piano players (Fiona, Emily Haines, Norah Jones). Here's "Us" off her 2004 album:

I've seen Built To Spill (great), Sufjan Stevens (very fun) and TV on The Radio (AWESOME). I'd also love to see Regina Spektor...ANYway, my 5 right now: The Thermals, Cloud Cult, Brand New, Russian Circles and Billy Bragg.

I've seen Brand New a few times, and have loved it every time. And Russian Circles are pretty wicked live as well.

Top 5 off the top of my head (OK I skimmed my iPod, too): Les Savy Fav, Bloc Party, The Flaming Lips (duh), TV on the Radio and...Radiohead (obviously). And they will all happen. Yes indeed.

Just seen Battles recently, wow! so much energy. How about top five dead and gone musicians you would love to see live.

Les Savy Fav's show @ the moma was one of my fav's of the year. And Radiohead is definitely a religious experience :)
