Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton (October 1, 2006 @ Kool Haus, Toronto)
If you haven't gotten a chance to catch Emily live you still have a chance; she's going back on tour in January. Stream this show, and let her soft voice melt your day away.
Recommended Track: Detective Daughter
Destroyer (April 10, 2006 @ CBC Studio 2, Vancouver)
Destroyer is no secret this year. Their album is #9 on Metacritics Best of 2006 list. Check out these 6 live tracks to see why it is well-deserved.
Recommended Track: It's Gonna Take An Airplane
Van Morrison (November 1, 1978 @ Bottom Line, NYC)
One of my all-time favorite artists was in the prime of his game at this time. Throughout this show, he "mixes up hot jazz, blazing blues, romantic and melodic ballads, and gospel-fevered rock 'n' roll." Check out the show review on the stream page to see why this show almost didn't happen. Thank god it did.
Recommended Track: Kingdom Hall
The Animals (November 29, 1983 @ Royal Oak Music Theatre, Michigan)
This tour marked the group's second reunion (since 1962). 20 years after they first formed, Eric Burdon has still got it. "The classic songs have fresh arrangements and are played with more vitality than one would expect from a band of guys in their 40s".
Recommended Track: House Of The Rising Sun
Bauer & The Metropole Orchestra (November 14, 2006 @ Paradiso, Amsterdam)
I discovered this band on Fab Channel randomly one day. This Dutch pop duo performs their latest album called The Bauer Melody Of 2006, it's a "12 segment homage to nature, love, hollywood musicals and all that is suave and lush". How can you go wrong with pop music backed by an orchestra? I love it.
Recommended Track: Captured In A Spinning Wheel
