My Hotel Year Reunion Show In MayMy Hotel Year Reunion Show In May

There were only really two local bands I really got into during college. Kitchens Of Soul** (who broke up in 2004) and My Hotel Year (who broke up in 2004 and are barely considered local because they are actually from Orlando).
Fortunately one of them has made me very happy. My Hotel Year is playing a reunion show at Club Firestone in Orlando on May 26th (Sunday). I'm excited! I've probably seen them half a dozen times during college (2001-2005). They were a punk-rock band who had catchy riffs and a lead singer that could scream his head off. I stumbled on them by accident during The Fest and was hooked. I know, doesn't sound that unique but just listen okay?

** I ended up finding a Kitchens Of Soul CD @ Goodwill for $3 and it wasn't as good as I remembered.

Hey what's up? I was looking for a ride to and from the show tomorrow from the disney area, anywhere close to there. I have a free ticket for anyone who wants to drive me too. Let me know what's up. I'm just really looking forward to seeing the band and have to find my way there because a friend can't make it.
Let me know asap.
Rock on!!

Hey,
Fred here. I played drums in Kitchens of Soul. Sorry you had to spend $3 for our Cd only to be disappointed. Good bet that you found Super-8 (recorded in 1999). The band evolved over the years from a rock sound (like on Super8) to a more unique sound that was more "james Brown meets Black Sabbath" or "like old school chicago moved to the bronx, bought a distortion pedal and smoked a joint" as two critics put it. But what do they know? We were working on an album that reflected this sound,. But we broke up before we could finish it. If I ever run into you, I'll be you a beer and tell you the story. That should settle your $3 disappointment down memory lane. Maybe I can slide you a copy of our self produced EP "The Cornbread Sessions" which was a series of bedroom recordings- pretty cool if you were into us. Peace.

btw, i liked My Hotel Year too. i was friends w/ their one-time manager. Did you know they took their name from a Douglass Copeland novel?

This is so crazy... I have seen this band many times in Nashville and was randomly going to add some of their music to our radio station and figured I would check to see if they had come off of their hiatus and then I see your posting about the 5/26 show in Orlando.... crazy. I am seriously considering driving the 10hrs to see it haha.
